Heloise in Your Newspaper
My newspaper column appears in over 500 papers worldwide. In the United States, it's published across the country in papers from Florida to Washington, and New Hampshire to California. I write the daily Hints from Heloise Monday through Saturday, and a special Sunday edition runs in many comic sections.Your paper may feature it all six days, every other day, or only one day a week. I have no control over how your paper uses my column. If your paper does not run my column and you want to see it, writing a letter, sending an email or calling the Editor-in-Chief and the Features editor may just do the trick.
If your paper has dropped my column, or is running it less frequently, they need to hear from you! If no one calls or writes, the editors presume that no one misses the column. Remember, it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease! For every person who lets the paper know they like or don't like something, they rightly assume there are many others out there who have the same feeling, but who just didn't get around to writing them with their opinion. Sometimes 15 to 20 calls or letters is enough for the paper to reconsider and put the column (or your favorite comic) back in.
